employee sign-in and enrollment in benefits, please carefully read
the following information from our HR-Payroll and HR-Benefits Sections
regarding the completion of payroll documents and the New Faculty
Benefits & Payroll Orientation schedule.
Benefits Information
For employees who desire a coverage effective date of September
1, 2009, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009
for submitting the health insurance enrollment
form and personal check/money order. Employees who submit their
health insurance enrollment forms after the 5:00 p.m. August 19,
2009 deadline will be subject to the next available coverage effective
date.
October 1, 2009 is the earliest possible coverage effective
date for Life and Supplemental insurance, including Basic
& Optional Life Insurance, Dental, Vision, Hospitalization,
Cancer/Intensive Care and Disability plans. Insurance information,
including brochures, are available on the HR website under Benefits
> Insurance. Information
on retirement plans is available on the HR website under Benefits
> Retirement.
All employees have 60 days from their date of hire
to enroll in insurance benefits. After the 60-day deadline, the
next available enrollment period for most benefits plans will be
during Open Enrollment, which is held in the Fall (September to
October). The coverage effective date for employees who enroll in
benefits during Open Enrollment will be January 1, 2010.

Payroll Information
Prior to New Faculty Benefits & Payroll Orientation, employees
must complete several forms as part of the new
employee sign-in procedure, which must be completed, correct,
and submitted to HR-Records before employees can be added to the
payroll. Employees are strongly encouraged to print, complete, sign,
and bring the interactive forms to their department prior to their
New Faculty Benefits & Payroll Orientation session. Please visit

Faculty Sign-In Procedures website for information on all documentation
required for new fall faculty.

Direct Deposit
Participation in the direct deposit program is a mandatory condition
of employment. If an employee fails to participate, or fails to
obtain an approved exemption from participation, then employee has
not met a condition of his/her employment, and may be subject to
progressive action up to, and including, termination. UCF has established
banking relationships with Bank of America, SunTrust Bank, and the
UCF Federal Credit Union to ensure that all UCF employees are able
open an account, regardless of their credit history.

Participation in the direct deposit program includes the following benefits:
- No lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged paychecks
- No time spent requesting a duplicate paycheck for the above reasons
- No time spent in line at HR on paydays to pick up a paycheck
- No time spent in line at the bank to deposit or cash your paycheck
- Your money is directly deposited on the morning of payday
- Up to 3 bank accounts can be used for direct deposit (checking or savings)
Paycheck Information
Assuming that the Faculty Agreement, Electronic Personnel Action
Form (ePAF), and all required forms and supporting documents are
completed, correct, and received in HR no later than 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, July 13, 2009, employees will receive their first paycheck
for the Fall semester on Friday, August 28, 2009. This paycheck
will reflect payment for nine (9) working days (August 8, 2009 through
August 20, 2009).
If the August 19, 2009 deadline is missed, the next payday is Friday,
September 11, 2009. If the required Faculty Agreement, ePAF, and
other required forms and supporting documents are completed, correct,
and received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2,
2009, employees will receive a paycheck on Friday, September 11,
2009 that will reflect a retroactive payment for nine (9) working
days (August 8, 2009 through August 20, 2009), plus payment for
10 working days of the current payroll cycle (August 21, 2009 through
September 3, 2009).
Academic Orientation Information
In addition to the New Faculty Benefits & Payroll Orientation
provided by HR, new faculty are required to attend an additional
New Faculty Academic Orientation. The Academic Orientation will
be held on the Orlando campus in the Student Union. Please visit
the Faculty Center's website regarding the New
Faculty Academic Orientation.
Registration Information

& Payroll Orientation session. Below is the pertinent information
regarding the orientation schedule. Participants must arrive on
time according to the time reserved for these dates.
